Baroque
The name baroque comes from the word barocco (odd). This style of art history lasted from the end of 16th to the middle of 17th century.
The penetration of baroque began in the ages when the catholic church started counter-reformation. The marks of the style helped it and vice versa: the catholic church urged the evolution of the baroque because thought it to be an instrument for showing its own grandeur.
The main feature of baroque is monumentality that can be found not only in sacral architecture. The palaces of the ruling class showed this also and incarnated the absolute monarchy. The Palace of Versailles in France was built this time on the order of Louis XIV. The buildings were over-decorated: gilding, noble materials (e.g. rare type of woods, marble, gobelin), murals, volutes, rich colors. The domed solution was common. Sculpture and painting was marked by the scenic presentation of figures, allegoric portrayal, movement and vigorousness.
The high-ceilinged interiors were heated by fireplaces in winter. The canopy beds were protected by around curtains from cold. In that times it was fashionable welcoming guests abed, that way not only community spaces (salon, corridors, lobbies) but also the bedroom, which belongs to the private area was made for representation.
The techniques of veneer, intarsia, marquetry (bone, tortoiseshell, mother-of-pearl, porcelain etc.) culminated in the art of making furniture. Using ormolu decorations on his furniture made André Charles Boulle, the furniture maker of Louis XIV., world famous. The seats were already upholstered (gobelin), their backs were straight, legs were arched and carved (cabriole), the frames frequently gilded. The commode with drawers appeared this time. The standing and table clocks as decorative objects also showed their owners’ wealth.
Using baroque style requires space. If we would like to apply it nowadays, in a common interior, its glimmer and monumentality should be held in – but this is not impossible. Ask for help of an interior designer creating a classy interior.

Blinds
It might happen during furnishing a room that there is no space for big, hanging curtains with rods. Frequently it is not practical to use a large amount of fabrics to cover the windows because of the type of the room (e.g. kitchen, bathroom). In this case, let’s choose some kind of blinds. These are easy to handle, need less space and can be made of any kind of curtain fabrics.
Roman blind: The fabric tenses at the front of the window when it is lowered. While pulling up, the fabric stratifies horizontally by layers. It requires special mechanism. The struts are sewn in the fabric. It can be fixed both on the window frame and the side wall.
Austrian blind: This type needs much more fabrics than the others. The ruffle at the bottom remains even when it is lowered. It can be pulled up by the sewn cords and the fabric gathers in waves at the holding rod.
London blind: It is similar to Austrian blind but in this case there are only two pull-up cords in the fabric. When pulled up, the fabric swells between the two cords and slightly swags at its ends. Its appearance is more playful and less formal.
Roll-up blind: It can be sprung, bead chain and electric as to its moving. The fabric laps to the holding device when it is rolled up. It can be made of any fabric from voile to black-out. The fabric is completely plain when lowered, so it gives clear-out contour to the window.
Zebra blind: Its gist is the alternation of voile and darkening parts which results a striped effect. The amount of the incoming light can be controlled by the setting of the covering. Although, it is a quite modern solution, this type can be utilized in a classic interior also.

My project 20.
I recently finished the interior design plan of this living room for a kind couple. The room is 22 sqm and has bedroom function too. The request was to freshen and make it cosier by keeping the sofa set and day-bed. The owner fell in love with this type of wardrobe-set, so the main task were choosing the proper elements, planning the furniture set and custom-made ordering. The wallpaper took a bold decision. Finally I found one of which had fine color to made elegant background for the furniture. It is a block apartment, so stripes help heighten the room and mouldings complete the view. The light turquoise of accessories and fabrics is perfect for offsetting the shades of brown. The chosen furniure set did not contain the proper coffee table, finally I found one in an auction website, perfect in style and color. I had to solve the storage of remembrancers, books and TV.

3D visualization
3D visualization has an important role in the design process. The plans of the designer merged with technical plans and product samples are not always comprehensible for the client, who needs something which shows the upshot in a final state, almost in 3D visualization.
Perspective drawing was the first solution for this. The room has been drawn from the perspective of the viewer and looked like if he or she was just standing in it. It could show the relationship of the objects to each other and the scales. It needed handcraft and took a long time. More perspectives meant more drawings.
In the old times, the usual way of this was making scale-models. The miniaturized model of the building was made of paper or wood. This process took a long time also. It was followed by the acceptance of the customer. Since the building constructions themselves were very slow and the furniture was made by craftsmen, realizing a whole interior took many years. Nowadays there is no time for this. In our faster world, technics can help this process also. For example, Rapid Prototyping (RPT) is one of them, which builds the model based on plans generated by software, from several materials, in a relatively short time. This technology is rarely used in interior design.
This process became faster by the emergence and development of CAD software. The „camera” can move freely in the interior designed, so visualization from various aspects took only some more minutes. A new question arose: the quality of the 3D visualizations. The gap between pictures without rendering and photorealistic pictures is huge. All depends on the requirements of the client. Some of them need only a simple visualization to see the harmony of colors and furniture, what can be fit in. But professional visualization is a must in a tender, especially in the case of public buildings.
Most of the architectural and interior design software have a rendering module. However, a perfect result can be achieved only by an external rendering software, which has been developed especially for this purpose. We actually get a realistic picture just like a real photo by setting several parameters. This process is helped by interior manufacturers with providing 3D files of their products which can be imported to the software. This way the chosen lamp, sofa or other product can be exactly placed in the plans, not just a similar one.
Of course, visualizations are still time-consuming process, regardless to the easy-to-use software solutions. Besides, hand drawings still have great importance, because these are unique, having almost an artistic value. Interior designers provide 3D visualizations of the plans if required.
