The Twelwe Days of Christmas is the festive term after Advent which begins on 25th of December, the first day of Chirstmas, and lasts until 6th of January, to Epiphany. It is based on an English poem which was first published in 1780 and thought to be French in origin. The later set to music poem is about a lover who gives presents to the beloved on each day, one more on each day. In those days, buying and giving presents was continous during this period. In contrast to the misconception, there is no biblical reference to the poem.
